More Common Window Covering Questions

Posted on: January 20th, 2011 by blindsetc No Comments

In an earlier post we shared with you some common questions we have gotten over the past year. Here are a few more, along with our responses.

What color blinds will go with dark wood color hardwood floor and dark wood colored trim?

There are many options for your room. You can lighten the room up with a clean white, or off-white to give some contrast to the dark wood colors in your home. Adding a lighter color will make the room and window look larger. Perhaps a 2″ faux wood or a shutter would work for your windows. Woven woods would also bring out the natural wood colors. There are a variety of patterns and colors, which give the room a very tranquil and relaxing look!

How would you decorate a small wide window in a bedroom?

White, Wood Shutters will make your window/room look bigger. Use 3 1/2″ louvers with as few door panels as necessary. If shutters are not in your budget, I would suggest a 2″ Faux wood blind for the same reason. Both are durable and very easy to clean.

I want the faux wood blinds that have no holes, how much more will it cost me?

Blinds Etc offers our faux wood blinds with no holes or (routless) for no extra charge. Many companies charge a 20% surcharge for this feature. Routless, faux wood blinds have a nicer look as there are no lines of light, it allows for a tighter close, and more privacy.  An added bonus is that the slats are removable for cleaning or replacement.

These are just a few examples of questions that our staff at Blinds Etc has frequently encountered. We hope that these answers have helped you with a question you may have had. If you have a question, concern, or simply would like some advice, our staff is glad to help you!

Common Questions About Blinds

Blinds Etc has been in business for 18 years, and over the years we have encountered many customers that have had questions about blinds, or simply wanted some advice. Our knowledgeable staff is glad to answer your questions and concerns regarding your window coverings. Below is a list of common questions our staff has encountered over the years along with our responses.

How can I fix my vertical blinds? A couple of the vanes are out of alignment with the rest?

Because our track system for our vertical blinds are self-aligning, if one (or more) vanes are turned out of alignment with the rest of the vanes; begin by making sure all vanes are laying on top of each other going the same direction, then pull the chain and keep pulling until it goes back into alignment. You will hear a clicking noise while pulling the chain, which is normal. Doing this should put all of your vanes in alignment.

I need new vertical slats for my blinds. Can I buy just the slats without buying an entirely new blind?

Absolutely! Vertical slats (or vanes) can be purchased and cut to size in minutes. We have a fantastic selection of replacement slats, all at prices that cannot be beat.

What can I put on my windows that will allow light to come in, but prevents people outside from seeing in?

A great way to allow light in to your room, but still have your privacy is to cover your windows with roller/solar shades! These shades not only give you the privacy, but still allow you to see outside and have light enter your room. . Roller shades and solar shades also provide excellent insulation! They come in multiple colors and styles, so they will fit with any decor.
